Hi all,
I'm trying to edit my XDCAM HD 50 422 with Premiere CS5.5, what i get is pretty jerky and sometimes stroboscopic, which is not acceptable.
My computer seems to be more than ok for the job, so I suspect I am not doing the right thing when I'm importing the data.
My footage is XDCAM 50Mbps 422, 1920 X1080 50i (default)
is there any benefit using the sony browser?
Is Premiere CS5.5 not fully supporting XDCAM 50 422?
Is there an update for this? or maybe a converter to edit in H264 that works fine for me?
(I've tried 2 free ones same result)
When I check the footage straight out of the cam through HDMI it's perfect.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks.

Almost certainly not an ingest problem. Much more likely to be a configuration issue. What's the spec of your PC?
Have a look (if you haven't already) at the Adobe articles on optimising your machine for editing.
(http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/201 ... fects.html)
Then, run Windows task manager and click on the performance tab / resource monitor. That will give you a lot of clues as to where the holdup is. Usually disc queues and memory use is especially revealing.
There's also a lot of good info on Harm Milaard's PPBM website. You can benchmark your PC and see how it compares.
Good luck!

Thanks. I think that it's my PC as well. Next week I will be able to try a 2012 MBP RN 2.7 16GB... I suppose that will answer some questions!

Still there with my problem... reading the file on an MBP retina 16GB didn't change anything. still stuttery.
Tried on a professional editing station based on a mac pro and FCP and finally saw my footage stable and nice on the (final) monitor. (SDI)
However, the vision I had of the timeline was still a little bit jerky. Which make me think that my problem is probably all about proper video monitoring.
I think it's gonna be a lot clearer now.
Does somebody had to fix this problem as well and how?
Thanks.

Updating, The problem was the monitoring: Wrong settings+ using a computer screen to watch my footage. All is fine now.
