Professional Disc: Bad/Ill. Index

Hi all,

we were shooting with the PDW-700 recently and one time after turning the cam back on, the display read "Bad Index" and the timecode was screwed.

I was initially shocked, but after checking the shot clips in playback, and they were all there and I could view them on the camcorder, I felt relieved.

The DP couldn´t remember if he had shut off the camcorder while it was recording. This was my first guess.

Now we wanted to import the disc using the U1, but couldn´t access it. Pushing it back into the camcorder, it reads "Ill. Index" and the disc can´t be accessed. No more thumbnails like the cam showed on the day of shooting.

ANY IDEAS???? All hints are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
pat

Re: Professional Disc: Bad/Ill. Index

The discs are normally very robust. Even taking the battery off the camera mid shot should not cause the disc to become unreadable. I would suggest you contact Sony and have them look at the disc, they can normally recover footage from problem discs.

That issue was taken care of in the latest sw v1.63 Release notes here: https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/downlo ... 700163.pdf
